QUESTION 1:  WHAT IS THE BIBLE?

The Bible is a collection of books, written over 4000 years by many different people – all who have been directed by God.  It’s main theme is how man fell into sin and how God has worked to redeem us from that sin and bring us back into His kingdom.

QUESTION 2:  ARE YOU GOING TO HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE?

Most people answer “I hope so” or “I don’t know.”  The reason they doubt is because they think THEY have something to do with it (being good enough, doing religious things to gain favor with God).  The Bible tells us you can have absolute certainty on this by trusting in what Jesus has done for you.  “ For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9

QUESTION 3:  IF YOU FOUND YOURSELF OUTSIDE THE GATES OF HEAVEN WITH THE LORD ASKING YOU WHY GOD SHOULD LET YOU IN, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

Here are the wrong answers:   “I tried to be a good person”… “I kept the golden rule or the ten commandments”… “I’ve done more good than bad.”   All those answers trust in our good works to earn God’s favor, and it can’t be done.  “Your good works are like filthy rags” to God.   His standard is perfection, and none of us are perfect.

That is why He sent His Son.  He lived the perfect sinless life and then offered to take our punishment so that God’s justice would be satisfied.   He earned God’s favor for us, and offers it to us as a gift.  So the only right answer is “I trust is what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross – taking my punishment so that I could have His righteousness.   I put my faith in Him as my Savior.”

QUESTION 4:  WHO IS JESUS?

The Bible tells us that God exists in a relationship:  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  When sin entered the world and creation was eternally separated from God, God the Son (Jesus) came to earth to sacrifice Himself and take the punishment for our sins, so that we could be righteous once again.  Justice was satisfied, and we can now have a healthy relationship with God.

QUESTION 5:  WHAT IS THE BIBLE?

The Bible is a collection of books, written over 4000 years by many different people – all who have been directed by God.  It’s main theme is how man fell into sin and how God has worked to redeem us from that sin and bring us back into His kingdom.

QUESTION 6:  DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO DIE?

No one knows the time of their death, only that death comes to everyone.  Just as all men are destined to die and then face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people…”  Hebrews 9:27

QUESTION 7:  HAS GOD CHANGED?

God does not change.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

QUESTION 8:  HOW CAN A GREAT GOD LOVE ME?

God loves us because He chooses to love us.  It has nothing to do with us.  “God demonstrates His love in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”   Romans 5:8   We don’t have to make ourselves perfect of lovable.  We don’t have to earn or deserve His love.  He simply chooses to love us.

QUESTION 9:  HOW CAN I KNOW THAT I AM GOING TO HEAVEN WHEN I DIE?

The Bible makes the same promise over and over again:  “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.”  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  John 3:16

QUESTION 10:  WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET TO HEAVEN?

You have to receive God’s gift through prayer.  Admit that you are a sinner (all of us sin – trying to be god of our own lives) and that you can’t save yourself.  Then ask Jesus to be your Savior by faith.  That is all God requires.  He will do the rest.

4 Steps to God

1.    GOD LOVES YOU!

The Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”

The problem is that . . .

2           ALL OF US HAVE DONE, SAID OR THOUGHT THINGS THAT ARE WRONG. THIS IS CALLED SIN, AND OUR SINS HAVE SEPARATED US FROM GOD.

The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.”

The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,

3   GOD SENT HIS ONLY SON JESUS CHRIST TO DIE FOR OUR SINS.

Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”

Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life — of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me.”

God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name.” You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior.

4.  IF YOU WANT TO ACCEPT CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR AND TURN FROM YOUR SINS, YOU CAN ASK HIM TO BE YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD BY PRAYING A PRAYER LIKE THIS:

“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.  I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always.”  Start reading the Bible, start with the Gospel of John.  Join a church and share with a friend what you have done.
